Welcome Teachers, Parents, Energy experts and other followers of the Flick the Switch Campaign!

We are delighted that you have registered your interest in the Flick the Switch Campaign and website. Although the campaign is now at an end we encourage you to continue to act upon your schools energy saving efforts and get other schools across Europe involved, so that we can continue to build on our European-wide efforts to stimulate our primary and secondary schools students to take an interest in energy issues and to tap into the massive potential they hold for change.

What changes are we talking about?

Simple changes in their energy use behaviour, such as switching off lights and devices when they are not in use, not leaving devices on stand-by, etc. Simple changes…yet powerful ones!

We hope you enjoy the website and that you find it informative and useful. From the left hand menu you can access information about the Flick the Switch Project and Campaign, you can access teaching materials and energy saving calculators and tools, you can find out what other schools were up to (view their videos, photos, etc.), you can find out about the Campaign activities and Competitions that were organised, etc. You can also upload your own material to the video and photos galleries.

If you have any problems in accessing or uploading anything, you can send us your comments, feedback and materials and anything you want to upload to the site and we will ensure it is uploaded for you!  Email us at info@flicktheswitch.eu

The Flick the Switch Campaign Closing Ceremony

The Flick the Switch Closing ceremony has been granted "Energy Days" status by  Sustainable Energy Europe.

The Flick the Switch Closing Ceremony took place in Rakvere, Estonia, on the 21st May 2010, and we are very pleased to announce that it was a great success. During this ceremony the winners of the Flick the Switch School Champions and Poster Competition winners were announced and presented with the official Flick the Switch awards!

Below are some photos of the talented students of the host school "Rakvere Gumnaasium" performing during the ceremony! 

Overall European Winners

In the category of Flick the Switch School Champions, we are very pleased and proud to announce the following overall European winners are:

Primary School Category: St Francis Primary School, Cospicua, Malta. Teacher: Lydia Gauci. 

Secondary School Category: Vilnius “Minties” Secondary School, Vilnius, Lithuania. Teachers: Asta Malinauskaitè and Džiuljeta Jonikienè.
 

Congratulation to both schools for their wonderfull efforts in saving energy, participating  in all the Flick the Switch campaign activities and organising fun and memorable activities of their own.

In the category of the Flick the Switch Poster Competition we are very pleased to announce the following European winners:

Primary School Category: Mihai Eminescu National College, Bucharest in Romania. The winning poster was designed by Daria Anamarie Dobre aged 7 years old, and submitted by her teacher Florentina Chifu. 

Secondary School Category: Scoala Duiliu Zamfirescu, Focsani in Romania. The winning poster was designed by Michaela Dima aged 14 years old, and submitted by her teacher Mariana Pavel.
