ANNOUNCING THE FLICK THE SWITCH WORKSHOP

Date: Thursday 23 September 2010, 09:30-13:30
Venue: Five Lakes Hotel, Maldon, Essex, United Kingdom.

The Flick the Switch team is pleased to announce the Flick the Switch workshop! Hosted by project partner Climate Energy, the workshop will explore the achievements of the Flick the Switch project across Europe and will highlight the contributions schools have made to this campaign to save energy. Schools will also find out how to transfer the knowledge gained during this campaign to students now and in the future.

Fun and stimulating workshop activities will give primary and secondary school students the opportunity to explore energy related issues outside of the classroom. There will be an exhibition of student contributions, campaign material and energy related information. Guests can also enjoy a European marketplace with traditional food and drink, costumes and cultural information from countries across Europe. Flick the Switch will even make a special guest appearance!

Among the guest speakers is Peter Chisnall from the Energy Saving Trust. Peter will discuss energy saving projects and initiatives and share his knowledge as an eco-schools assessor. The Flick the Switch co-ordinator will also discuss the success of the project and the importance of giving the energy saving message to students. Overall, the workshop will give everyone a chance to reflect on the project and will remind us to continue spreading the energy saving message.

The Flick the Switch team would like to invite you to help us make this a memorable event! Email info@flicktheswitch.eu if you’d like to join us. Participation is free of charge but places are limited, so contact us as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

The Flick the Switch Campaign

The Flick the Switch Campaign involved organising a series of activities and competitions designed to  motivate and stimulate European primary and secondary school students to get in the habit of switching of lights and electrical devices when not in use. It also encouraged and welcomed innovation among schools to organise their own activities resulting in students becoming empowered to take on energy saving actions themselves!

The campaign is now at an end but your school  is still being encouraged to continue your energy saving endeavours and to remind your students to maintain their energy efficiency habits.

The following campaign activity suggestions are as relevant now as they were during the campaign as they provide a useful example of ideas you can still use to continue your schools energy efficency measures.
